The Basque Government Department of Transport and Public Works erected the sculpture entitled “Itzulera” (“The return”) in the port of Bermeo on the 9th September, 1995.
This is a sculpture created in bronze by Castor Solano, and was first presented in public in the Basque Country Pavilion at the Expo 92 world fair held in Seville. It is approximately 5 metres high and represents a fisherman and his son.
“Itzulera” has two parts to it. Firstly, the image of the fisherman is abstract, whilst the image of his son is true to life.
